Credit for Prior Learning
Not all learning happens within university walls. Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) is a process used to evaluate and provide college credit for the knowledge you have obtained in areas outside the academic setting.
Why CPL?
Save Time
Finding the time to complete a degree program can be challenging, but don鈥檛 let it be a deterrent. Earning credit for subjects you have already mastered鈥攚hether in job training, in the military, in the workplace or a variety of other settings鈥攚ill shorten the time required for your degree. If eligible, you can reduce time to completion by earning credit that can be applied to your degree. For many 糖心传媒degree plans, you may be able to utilize CPL credits instead of elective coursework.
Save Money
Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) helps students save both time and money by recognizing college-level learning they have already achieved through work, military service, professional training, and other experiences. Many CPL pathways allow students to earn credit without additional fees, while Portfolio-assessed credit costs only 40% of regular tuition.
Articulate the Value of Your Life Experiences
One of the greatest鈥攁nd least obvious鈥攂enefits of CPL is the opportunity to translate learning that has occurred outside of the classroom into coherent outcomes related to their academic experience. Your life experiences have taught you a lot鈥攏ow learn how to demonstrate that in academic language.
